Water temperature fluctuations
The reasons for fluctuations in water temperature can be complicated and will likely require a licensed plumber. It could be something as simple as sediment build up in the water tank. However the issue could also be corroded or clogged plumbing pipes. There is something called a thermocouple which is in the water heater and it could be damaged. It might also be that the hot water shut off valve is defective. So you can see there are technical possibilities and so we strongly advise a licensed plumber.
Not enough hot water
We have all been there at some point. We jump into the shower and there is not enough hot water. There are a number of reasons this can happen. The Thermostat, which controls the temperature of the water, could be failing. When these units get old enough (like everything else) they do not always come on when they should and so the water in the tank will not be as warm as it should be, hence the cold shower.
